This purpose built expedition vessel, honours the highly accomplished marine biologist, oceanographer and explorer, Sylvia Earle and is the sister ship to the revolutionary Greg Mortimer. Day 1 Punta Arenas, Chile

Punta Arenas

Arrive in Punta Arenas and transfer to the downtown hotel included in your itinerary. The rest of the afternoon is for you to spend at your leisure exploring this vibrant town on the Strait of Magellan.

Day 2 King George Island

Begin your expedition in the morning in the southern Chilean port city of Punta Arenas. You will be met at your hotel and transferred to the airport for the two-hour flight across the Drake Passage to Antarctica (this flight is included in the price of your voyage).

Upon arrival at King George Island, you will board the ship via Zodiac. After settling in to your cabin you will meet the expedition team and fellow passengers. Enjoy your first meal onboard and the Antarctic scenery you can enjoy from the many viewing platforms.

Days 3 – 10 Weddell Sea and Antarctic Peninsula

In the days ahead, immerse yourself in the unforgettable landscapes of the white continent. Sail across the Bransfield Strait into the other-worldly landscape of the Antarctic Sound. If sea ice conditions allow, venture east into the Weddell Sea, known for its impressive sea ice and large icebergs. Feel your pulse quicken as vast tabular icebergs pass close by. You aim to land on fossil-rich islands for exploration and to hear from the expert paleontologist. Roam the shoreline near where Adelie, gentoo and chinstrap penguins waddle, and delight in their charismatic antics. Zodiac-cruise in search of seals, whales and their calves. Aim to land on the Antarctic continent and the many islands surrounding the peninsula, to visit historical sites and to experience the unforgettable landscape up close.

Days 11 – 12 The Drake Passage

As the ship navigates toward South America you will cross the fabled Drake Passage, surrounded by soaring albatross and flitting petrels. The expedition team will continue the educational program and a recap on your incredible voyage. Celebrate your extraordinary voyage while entering Beagle Channel.

Day 13 Ushuaia

Ushuaia

In the early morning, you will arrive into Ushuaia, Argentina. It is time to say farewell to your crew and fellow travellers. Guests will be transported to their hotels or to the airport for return flights home. It will be possible to connect to flights through to Buenos Aires or other destinations in South America. Otherwise enjoy a night in town or venture further afield to explore the highlights of Patagonia.
