FLY – CRUISE ANTARCTIC SHIPS

Fly – Cruise Antarctic simply means ships that start or end their operation with a fight to, and, or, from Chile to King George Island in the South Shetland Islands thus avoiding one or both crossings of the Drake Passage.
Once on the ship these operators offer a similar style of operation with zodiac cruises and landings on the Antarctic Peninsula.

We have divided the ships into two categories, with ships that offer a dedicated season on fly-cruise voyages and those that offer a number of fly-cruise voyages as part of their season.

SMALL SHIPS

Excellent cuisine options are available, often in a range of restaurants, some informal others offering fine dining – all are al la carte. Some offer in-suite dining, if the conditions are suitable, on your private balcony.

DEDICATED FLY – CRUISE OPERATION

Your home away from home is a superbly appointed luxury suite. Some ships have a personal suite host and suite attendant to ensure everything in your suite is always as you wish. An in-suite bar with a selection of beverages and your requested complimentary wines or spirits. Most have private balconies where you can sit back and relax.

FLIGHTS FROM PUNTA ARENAS AND PUERTO NATALES

Some Luxury ships have on board helicopters for the ultimate vantage point, whilst others also have custom-designed submersibles which offers small groups a totally different perspective of Antarctica. All have a fleet of inflatable zodiacs for excursions.

WELLNESS FACILITIES

Luxury Cruise ships have a range of wellness facilities including a gym, yoga and Pilates studios (vary by ship). All have spa a massage facilities. After your excursion ashore or by zodiac you can return to your very comfortable cabin and then have a spa treatment – there is no need for an adventure to be hard work.

Purpose built luxury Antarctic cruise ships have ideally located Observation Lounges offer viewing in comfort as well as easy access to exterior decks, ensuring you don’t miss out on sightings of whales or spectacular Polar scenery. For more reflective times the ship’s library offer an in-depth range of polar literature as well a quite place to review your images or simply to reflect on your experiences.

DEDICATED FLY – CRUISE ANTARCTIC SHIPS WE OFFER

We only offer luxury ships that cater for less than 250 guests, with the majority carrying fewer than 200 on Antarctic Cruises.

WHY?

IAATO (International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators) regulations restrict where larger ships can go and also state that no more than 100 guests can go ashore at any one time.

Ships with up to 200 guests will often land 100 guests whilst the other 100 either take a zodiac cruise or wait on the ship.

Ships that carry more than 200 guests are restricted as to where they can land, as well as taking far more time to get guests into zodiacs and ashore, or out exploring, as a result your time exploring is both limited and reduced.
